Police end rally, enter Chater Garden and shoot at unarmed crowd

On January 19, riot police and raptor squads entered Chater Garden and dispersed those attending the “Rally for Global Sanctions Against Communist China,” after the rally was ended prematurely.

However, because of the large size of the crowd attending the rally, many were trapped inside Chater Garden.

Some members of raptor squads fired pepper-spray pellets at those trapped inside the park, even though the attendees at the rally had not taken any actions against police.

Police also used pepper spray on reporters who were filming at the scene.
