A mother in the Mainland: Tribute to brave and strong children of PolyU

A mother in mainland, whose daughter once studied in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, wrote a poem to pay tribute to the brave children.

She said she was just an ordinary mother in the Mainland, and her daughter graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She thanked Hong Kong for her daughter’s education.

During her daughter’s studying time, she visited the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she was deeply impressed by the cultural environment and the vibrant young students there.

Unexpectedly, one day, the peaceful campus of Polytechnic University will become a fierce battlefield fight for freedom. She watched the young protesters being tortured and mutilated and even murdered. She was very painful and indignant, and she couldn’t restrain her tears from falling.

So she wrote this poem and paid her deep respect to the brave, strong and intelligent children of PolyU and all protesters in Hong Kong who pursued freedom and democracy.

The poem is full of affection, and some netizens exclaimed that it was comparable to the Greek Homer epic.

Excerpts from the poem are as follows:

Battle: Darkness and Light — Burning the Heroic Epic of the Battle of the Acropolis 2019

Night is long and dark
Both human and devil’s shadows are in the eyes
Tears running
Mother earth sorrowed
