HK Police deny wrongdoing for head stomping or driving van into crowd

A video shows that Hong Kong police drove a van carrying elite officers into protesters during a clearance operation in Yau Ma Tei on Monday night, reportedly causing injuries among fleeing demonstrators. A middle school student was later pronounced dead in the hospital after being run over by the police van.

Police Senior Superintendent of the Operations Branch Wong Wai-shun said during a press conference that it was necessary for officers to take such measures when facing attacks from protesters: “[Driving] fast doesn’t mean it is unsafe. For our police officers, they all well trained.”
