A Hong Kong ER doctor disclosed that a 16-year-old girl resorted to abortion after she was gang-raped by police.
The months-long youth-led pro-democracy protests resulted in many injuries, arrests and even deaths. Among the victims, more and more young women and men started to accuse the police of sexual assaults.
On Nov 8th, a post on lihkg.com went viral. Someone claimed that a young girl, who was gang-raped by police, went to Queen Elizabeth Hospital to terminate her pregnancy. He went on saying that this became widely known among the medical professionals.
A Facebook post from a group of Hong Kong ER doctors called “Dr. Ray 的急症室迎送生涯” confirmed this incidence:
A pro-Beijing media also reported that the same girl who had an abortion filed a lawsuit against the police. But the Hong Kong authority tried to discredit her allegations.
In general, few sexual assault victims were willing to break the silence and re-live the pain. In Hong Kong where people are fighting against the communist party’s Reign of Terror, it takes enormous courage for victims to expose this type of horrific crimes committed by the police. We may never know the exact number of rape victims, because many victims are just young girls in their teens. Some were so traumatized that they became suicidal as reported in a press conference.
The world was shocked when the naked body of a 15-year-old competitive swimmer Chan Yin Lam was found in the sea. Police concluded that she committed suicide, but more and more evidences are showing that she died at the hands of the Hong Kong police.
Ms. Sonia Ng, who studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, told the public about the humiliation and assaults suffered by herself and other detainees at a police station. She received multiple threats afterward.
Stand with Hong Kong!
