Female Student Disclosed HK Police Sexual Assault And Refused to Be Silent Despite Threats

Sonia Ng, a Chinese University student who accused police of sexual assault, refused to obtain bail in her arrest for unlawful assembly on Aug 31 at Prince Edward Station. Ng condemned the police’s arbitrary arrest and their intent to silence by intimidating and even assaulting protesters during detention. Ng said this would not deter her from speaking up. Ng also wrote an open letter to Carrie Lam calling for an independent inquiry into the Hong Kong police’s power abuse and sexual violence towards arrested protesters. Carrie Lam has until December 31 to respond to the letter openly.
