China’s foreign ministry said that U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s comments targeting Beijing and the ruling Communist Party were a vicious attack on the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government.

Foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told a daily briefing that Pompeo was trying to alienate the Communist Party from the Chinese people and stigmatize China’s domestic and foreign policies.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in an interview with Fox News on Nov 4. He reiterated that the CCP is different from the Chinese people.

Pompeo delivered a fiery speech on Oct 30 at the Hudson Institution, describing how America has “taken on the challenge” posed by the “communist government” in China. Pompeo said that the U.S. must ‘confront challenges’ from Beijing ‘head-on’
