The government-backed Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) released its report on police brutality. It was concluded that with rifles, guns, ammunition and materials for making bombs seized recently, it seems that Hong Kong is going through an era of terrorism.
When asked, Dr Anthony Francis Neoh, IPCC Chairman, suggested that this wasn’t the conclusion of the report, but a statement by the Commissioner of Police. Neoh stated that he “should listen to the CP because it was him who did the investigation.” When asked, “do you trust the CP?”, he responded with “who else is there to trust?”
External foreign experts in IPCC had quitted the board in December 2019. While the population demands an independent inquiry, the Hong Kong government has repeatedly said that it was unnecessary.
On a side note, CE Carrie Lam called for a press conference on the same day and named it “The Truth About Hong Kong”.
