Voter registration in Hong Kong ended on May 2

The 2020 voter registration period ended on May 2, and the change of voter registration information has ended on the 2 April.

In the past months, the ‘yellow’ pro-democracy camp and ‘blue’ pro-establishment camp had been mobilizing new voters to register.

The Civilian Volunteer Team was informed that there are currently over a thousand registrations in the catering industry had been bounced back and required re-submission of information. Many of the letters requesting replacement certificates did not specify the requirements and the format was irregular.

In addition, the government arrangement for civil servants to work from home has worried voters that this may hinder the ability of ‘yellow’ pro-protesr shops to successfully register as a constituent voter.
