Dr. Liu Wenxiong, a doctor at Sanfutan Township Health Center of Xiantao City, Hubei province, died suddenly at home at about 6 o’clock on Feb. 13. Because Dr. Liu Wenxiong was not dead of the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia and did not die at the authorized working times and places, the Xiantao Municipal People’s Social Security Bureau decided not to recognize his work-related injury on February 20. The officals forgot that the doctor has treated more than 3,000 patients in a month.
Dr. Liu Wenxiong stepped into a career in physicians in January 1998 and was appointed as a specialized level 11 physician in Sanfutan Township Hospital Center of Xiantao City in 2012.
After the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia outbreak in January 2020, Dr. Liu Wenxiong, the deputy head of the expert guidance group of fever clinic in Sanfutan Township Health Center, has been treating 670 fever patients in total. A statistics table of “Doctor Daily Visits” shows that 3181 patients were treated by Dr. Liu Wenxiong from Jan. 12 to Feb. 12.
Dr. Liu has presented physical symptoms, such as chest pain and palpitation on Jan. 31,but he did not take sick leave because of heavy epidemic prevention tasks.
On Feb. 12, Dr. Liu worked in the fever clinic at 8: 00-11: 30, and 13: 30-17: 00, returned home from work at about 17:00, then responded to patients’ telephone inquiries at 22: 00. He passed away from acute Myocardial Infarction (MI) at 6:14 on Feb. 13, at the age of 50.
At present, Dr. Liu Wenxiong’s family decided to apply for administrative reconsideration to relevant authorities.
